PBA: Rain or Shine to retire Gabe Norwood's No. 5 jersey

Rain or Shine Elasto is set to honor one of the most celebrated figures in franchise history by announcing plans to retire Gabe Norwood's iconic No. 5 jersey.

The Elasto Painters are set to hold a ceremony at halftime of their game against Converge on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The 41-year-old Norwood, an icon both in the PBA and the national team, closed out his colorful career late last year, bringing an end to a remarkable 17-year run, all of which he spent with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

Norwood bared in October 2025 that he will hang his jersey by the end of the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup, which saw the Elasto Painters bow out after losing to Meralco in the quarterfinals. 

With Rain or Shine, Norwood helped the franchise capture two PBA titles after winning the 2012 Governors' Cup and 2016 Commissioner's Cup while also seizing multiple individual awards including the Rookie of the Year plum in 2009.
