PBA: Meralco keeps Macau winless in Commissioner’s Cup

Meralco escaped Macau, 115-110, for its third straight win in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup on Saturday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

This also marked the Black Knights’ sixth straight loss in the conference.

Macau was leading 109-107 with less than four minutes left before CJ Cansino answered with his own jumper to tie the game. Cansino then scored another one to hand Meralco the lead, but Ramon Cao’s split trimmed Macau’s deficit.

Eventually, Marvin Jones and Jansen Rios’ baskets handed Meralco the victory as Cansino blocked a crucial three-point attempt from Phoenix Shackelford just before the Bolts’ final field goal. Jenning Leung and Cao still attempted for a four pointer and triple, but missed, as their losing streak continued.

Import Jones had 32 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, two blocks, and a steal for the Bolts, while Cansino had 23 points, seven rebounds, two steals, and an assist to lead the Meralco locals.

Shackelford had 29 points for Macau, while Tony Mitchell registered a double-double of 16 points and 14 rebounds.

With the victory, Meralco improved to 5-1.
