Jack Animam gets first pro title as Denso rules Japan league
Jack Animam captured her first-ever professional crown after helping Denso Iris reign supreme in the 2026 Women's Japan Basketball League on Sunday at the Keio Arena in Tokyo.
The 27-year-old Filipina center and Denso pulled off a 71-50 win over the Toyota Antelopes in Game 4 of their best-of-five championship series as Denso secured its maiden title in the prestigious league.
Animam was part of the starters and contributed two points, two rebounds, and a block while veteran and Olympian Maki Takada led the 19-point win with 21 markers, seven boards, one assist, one steal, and one block.
Denso opened the series with a 75-66 Game 1 win before Toyota equalized with a 57-41 victory in Game 2. Takada then exploded for 24 points and eight boards in Game 3, 69-59, to help Denso move a win away from their breakthrough title.
The win gave Animam her first professional title after years of playing for various overseas clubs.
The Gilas Pilipinas Women star first brought her acts to Serbia with Radnicki Kragujevac before signing with Toulouse Metropole Basket in the Ligue Feminine de Basketball (LFB) Division 1 in France in 2023.
Back in 2021, the former UAAP MVP also won a title in Taiwan after helping Shih Hsin University (SHU) claim the University Basketball Association (UBA) title.
