PBA: Jenning Leung of the Macau Black Knights

The Macau Black Knights had their best three-point shooting night, punishing Titan Ultra from beyond the arc to secure a 119-107 win and break through in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup on Tuesday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Black Knights torched the Giant Risers with 19 triples, seven of which came from Jenning Leung, as the visiting team finally barged into the win column after losing its first seven games.

Leung went toe-to-toe with counterpart Fran Yu in a shootout as he finished with 32 points along with three rebounds, two assists, and a steal while Damian Chongqui churned out 23 markers, nine dimes, two boards, and a steal.

Leung and the Black Knights spoiled a new career-high night for Yu as the former NCAA Finals MVP poured in 35 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the three-point area and a perfect 2-of-2 clip from the four-point arc.

"I feel like we should have been a couple of wins in, but it feels good [to get this win]," Macau head coach Marcus Elliott said.

"I'm happy for him (Leung) because he didn't have a good shooting the other night and we relied on him heavily. I'm happy for him. The rest of the guys had good percentages."

Macau ignited their breakaway late in second period when it unleashed five straight triples to turn a slim 46-45 lead into a 61-45 cushion before ending the halftime enjoying a 65-48 lead.

Leung then knocked down two more triples to open the third quarter, giving his team a 78-56 advantage. However, Yu went ballistic, burying two consecutive four-point shots that pulled Titan Ultra within 12 points, 99-87, early in the fourth.

Another three-pointer from the former Letran standout cut the deficit to a single-digit deficit, 102-93, before he sank a pair of free throws off a foul from Phoenix Shackelford.

But Chongqui provided the answers Macau was looking for during that Titan rally, completing a layup before hitting a three-pointer that put the game away in their favor.

Another Letran product provided the help to Yu in the losing effort with Jerrick Balanza pouring in 20 points while Joshua Munzon and import Michael Gilmore chipped in 12 and 11 markers each.
