Gilas Women 3x3 punch Asian Beach Games semis ticket after ousting Kazakhstan

Gilas Pilipinas 3x3 averted a collapse to eke out a 16-11 win over Kazakhstan in the 2026 Asian Beach Games women's basketball 3x3 quarterfinals on Tuesday at the Sanya Sports Centre Gymnasium in China. 

Gilas nearly wasted a four-point lead after building a 12-8 cushion, but the Filipinas launched a pivotal 4-0 swing to close out the game and advance to the semifinals, where the Filipinas will face Singapore for a spot in the finals. 

Tantoy Ferrer top-scored with six points while Mikka Cacho poured five markers. Gabi Bade and Kaye Pingol were also crucial after they dropped three and two points each to help the cause. 

Earlier, their men counterparts likewise punched their semifinals ticket after beating India in an 18-14 win. 

Both Gilas Men and Women will compete in the semifinals on Wednesday, with the finals to follow.
