“Throughout my career, even when I first came here from Canada, I’ve always gone off my instincts,” Puno told reporters on Monday. “I’ve been with San Beda for a few years now, and over the last two years, I’ve been dealing with injuries.”
“We ended on a good note, we won the championship, and I was able to play in the finals, so I was happy with that. But now that I’m reaching that point in my career where I want to take the next step, I really want to focus on my body. I want to prioritize rehab and preparation, because college basketball here is very high-intensity. I just want to enter my pro years in good shape,” he added.
For Puno, transitioning to 3x3 is also a way to further develop his skills while he considers his next move.
“I thought it’s a good way to train, also mentally, especially playing against pros,” he said. “For now, I’m just going to continue playing 3x3.”
Will he suit up for San Beda next season for his final playing year?
“Probably not,” Puno admitted.
“Yeah, I’ll keep playing 3x3, and I have other plans with my agent. Hopefully, things work out. We have some good opportunities coming up.”
