PBA: TNT rookie Sean Quitevis answers call in quarterfinals
For years, Sean Quitevis treated the Moro Lorenzo Sports Center as his home while training with Ateneo de Manila University in the UAAP.
The same facility also serves as the training ground for the TNT Tropang 5G.
Now, Quitevis finds himself playing for the same team he once shared the facility with.
“It's a dream come true really as a rookie,” said Quitevis, who started as a practice player for the Tropang 5G after being drafted last year.
“Coming from Ateneo, we trained in the same facility, so I would train in the morning, get my weights in, and they would be there. It's kind of like a graduation from college to the pros.”
Quitevis made his PBA debut last Sunday against Barangay Ginebra, but it was in TNT’s quarterfinal game against NLEX where he saw more action, logging 12 minutes along with three rebounds and two assists.
“I think this moment is just another day, another test for me. And I'm just ready to put all my heart on the floor,” he said.
For TNT head coach Chot Reyes, Quitevis has been filling the role left vacant by the injured Jio Jalalon.
“We need a guy to fill the shoes of Jio Jalalon because siya ‘yung sa aming pume-pressure na maliit na makulit who could get in the face of the opposing team’s ball handler,” Reyes said about Quitevis’ role.
