Filoil Preseason: Mason Amos delivers game-winning triple as La Salle escapes UST; Letran, LPU, JRU notch wins

Mason Amos knocked down the game-winning triple as De La Salle University escaped University of Santo Tomas, 79-78, in the Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup on Friday at the Filoil Centre.

Coming off a timeout, Jacob Cortez brought the ball down court and found Amos at the corner for the decisive basket. UST still had a final opportunity to steal the win, but Collins Akowe missed his last-second attempt, allowing the Green Archers to secure the victory.

Cortez and Amos finished with 13 points apiece, while Doy Dungo chipped in 10 markers for La Salle.

Akowe and Mark Llemit paced UST with 16 points each, while Koji Buenaflor added 11 points.

In the NCAA bracket, Jose Rizal University defeated University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, 66-54.

Lawrence Mangubat led the Heavy Bombers with 21 points, while Chris Hubilla and Sean Salvador contributed 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Meanwhile, Colegio de San Juan de Letran defeated De La Salle–College of Saint Benilde, 75-71.

Jimboy Estrada powered the Knights with 21 points, while Titing Manalili added 14.

Lyceum of the Philippines University, meanwhile, outlasted Arellano University in overtime, 82-75.

Renz Villegas led the Pirates with 22 points, while Matthew Rubico stuffed the stat sheet with 14 points, nine assists, seven rebounds, and five steals.
