Filoil: San Beda routs LPU, Letran beats San Sebastian for second win
San Beda University dominated Lyceum of the Philippines University, 102-77, while Colegio de San Juan de Letran defeated San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 96-85, in Thursday’s NCAA bracket games in the Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup.
The Red Lions stormed to an early 24-14 lead in the first quarter and carried a commanding 54-37 advantage into halftime.
San Beda continued to pour it on in the second half, stretching its lead to as much as 29 points, 97-68, with 5:25 left in the fourth quarter before sealing the convincing win.
Daniel Marcelo led the Red Lions with 17 points, four assists, two rebounds, and one steal, while Aldous Torculas added 15 points as San Beda improved to 2-0.
Renz Villegas scored 20 points, while Matthew Rubico chipped in 17 for the Pirates, who dropped to 1-2.
In the second game, Letran leaned on Denzil Walker, who finished with 26 points, while Chad Gammad added 16 and Syrex Silorio contributed 12 as the Knights improved to 2-1.
Polo Gabat scored 20 points, while JC Ynot added 18 for the Golden Stags, who fell to 0-2.
