Chog Moral ready for the grind as he eyes Gilas Pilipinas Youth spot
Chog Moral has continued to make waves online after going viral for his standout performance in last year’s Palarong Pambansa.
Nearly a year later, the 17-year-old guard has earned a call-up to train with the Gilas Pilipinas Youth Under-18 team.
“Sobrang excited ko, sana palarin ako makapaglaro sa Batang Gilas and lalo ko pang ini-improve sarili ko para makuha rito sa Batang Gilas,” Moral said on Thursday during the Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup, where he made his tournament debut.
In the game, Moral finished with five points and two assists in 17 minutes and 34 seconds of action. Despite limited production in his debut, the 5-foot-11 guard said he remains determined to maximize the opportunity as he works toward reaching bigger stages in his basketball career.
“Sisipagan ko sarili ko, every game, every practice na iniimprove ko sarili ko para makatuntong sa pinapangarap ko,” Moral said, adding that he continues to stay humble and trust God despite the attention he has received because of his talent.
Moral is among the 24 players currently in the Gilas Pilipinas youth pool competing for a spot in the final lineup for the upcoming FIBA SEABA Qualifiers.
