UST beats NU to claim NSAC trophy

The University of Santo Tomas (UST) defeated National University (NU), 95-84, in the finals of the NSAC College Basketball Campus Tour last Sunday at the Blue Eagle Gym of Ateneo de Manila University.

Mark Llemit, who was named Finals Most Valuable Player, led the Growling Tigers with 27 points, seven rebounds, and two assists. Foreign student-athlete Collins Akowe added a double-double of 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Reinhard Jumamoy paced the Bulldogs with 18 points, eight assists, and four rebounds.

In the battle for third place, reigning UAAP champion De La Salle University defeated NCAA champion San Beda University, 78-61.

Former San Beda standout and current La Salle player Janti Miller finished with 18 points and three rebounds, while Luis Pablo contributed 11 points and six rebounds.

For the Red Lions, Lawrence Hawkins posted 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Daniel Marcelo and JC Bonzalida scored nine points each.

La Salle's Jacob Cortez was named Tournament MVP. He was joined in the All-Tournament Team by teammate Mason Amos, NU's Mo Diassana, San Beda's Marcelo, and UST's Gelo Crisostomo.
