UAAP, SBP mourn passing of Ateneo's Rene Baterbonia, Divine Adili
The University Athletic Association of the Philippines and Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas mourned the passing of Ateneo de Manila University’s Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili.
The two passed away due to drowning in a team building activity in Aurora. Ateneo announced the unfortunate news on Monday.

“The UAAP mourns the passing of Ateneo Blue Eagles Men’s Basketball players Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili,” the league said in a statement.
“Rest in Peace, Rene and Divine.”
In a statement, the SBP said it extends its deepest condolences to the players’ families.
“As the National Sports Association for basketball, the SBP has been in communication with the University's basketball officials to determine what assistance may be needed, with particular attention given to those most affected by this tragic incident,” the SBP said.
“During this difficult time, we stand in solidarity with the families, teammates, coaches, friends, and the entire Ateneo community. We join them in mourning this heartbreaking loss and offer our prayers for strength, comfort, and healing.”
Adili was the Blue Eagles’ foreign student-athlete in UAAP Season 88, while Baterbonia was a recruit of Ateneo who was expected to suit up in Season 89.
