Mike Phillips, Justine Baltazar in for Gilas Pilipinas in FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers July window

Mike Phillips and Justine Baltazar are set to suit up for Gilas Pilipinas as the national men's basketball team takes on New Zealand and Australia in the July window of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) announced the 12-man roster on Thursday.

Joining Phillips and Baltazar are RJ Abarrientos, Justin Brownlee, AJ Edu, June Mar Fajardo, Chris Newsome, Kevin Quiambao, Dwight Ramos, Troy Rosario, Carl Tamayo, and Scottie Thompson.

Calvin Oftana confirmed on Wednesday that he will miss the national team's campaign as he continues to recover from an injury. Also absent from the roster are Kai Sotto and Quentin Millora-Brown.

Neither Phillips nor Baltazar is new to the Gilas program. Phillips, a former De La Salle University standout, was part of the Philippine team that competed in the 2023 Southeast Asian Games, while Baltazar represented Gilas in the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers and the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
