NBA: Wizards select AJ Dybantsa No. 1 in NBA Draft

2026 NBA Draft: AJ Dybantsa of the Washington Wizards

The Washington Wizards selected AJ Dybantsa of BYU as the No. 1 pick of the 2026 NBA Draft on Tuesday (Wednesday in the Philippines).

Dybantsa is a 6-8 forward who led the NCAA Division I in scoring with 25.5 points per game last season.

The Wizards finished 17-65 last season and missed the playoffs.

Darryn Peterson of Kansas, one of the contenders to picked first overall along with Dybantsa, went second to the Utah Jazz.

The Memphis Grizzlies selected Duke's Cameron Boozer, who was college basketball's National Player of the Year, with the No. 3 pick.

Caleb Wilson of UNC was the fourth overall pick, heading to the Chicago Bulls.

The Los Angeles Clippers, at No. 5, picked Keaton Wagler of Illinois while the Brooklyn Nets selected Mikel Brown Jr of Louisville at sixth. Darius Acuff Jr of Arkansas went seventh to the Sacramento Kings while Kingston Flemings of Houston headed to the Atlanta Hawks at No. 8.

Rounding out the Top 10 were Morez Johnson Jr to the Dallas Mavericks and Brayden Burries to the Milwaukee Bucks.
