PBA: George King erupts for 46 points as San Miguel repeats over ConvergeĀ

San Miguel rode George King's hot hands to pull away in the third quarter and repeat over Converge with a 126-114 win in the PBA Season 50 Governors' Cup on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

King erupted for 46 points, including 15 in the penultimate period, while also grabbing 14 rebounds, six assists, and three steals that allowed the Beermen to duplicate their 128-122 win over the FiberXers in the first round.

Don Trollano torched Converge with five triples to finish with 27 points off the bench while June Mar Fajardo had a rare double-double of 21 rebounds and 10 assists as he was limited to just five markers.

San Miguel also drew 15 points from Jerrick Ahanmisi as the Beermen bounced back from an overtime loss to TNT and improved to 5-2 in Group A.

"First of all, thank God, I was able to have another opportunity to coach the team. At the start of the conference, I didn't know that I have something," SMB head coach Leo Austria said to mark his return to shot-calling after his angioplasty surgery.

"Now, I am back again to coach the team. I'm so happy to be back and give us another win. I think this is my first time since May 15."

Ahead by only one at the halftime break, San Miguel broke the game wide open after knocking it down from the three-point arc. The Beermen buried six three-pointers in that period, three of which came from Marcio Lassiter, who was held scoreless in the first half, as they raced to a 102-82 cushion.

The FiberXers did give San Miguel a scare when import Jamaal Franklin fired a triple of his own to pull Converge to just 15, 113-98, and force the Beermen to call for a timeout with 3:20 left in the fourth.

But King and Ahanmisi supplied the finishing blow as the Beermen sank Converge to its fourth loss in a row.
