UAAP: Ateneo's Kyle Gamber to sit out Season 89 due to personal reasons

Ateneo de Manila University’s Kyle Gamber will sit out the upcoming UAAP Season 89 due to personal reasons.

In an Instagram story on Saturday, Gamber confirmed that he will skip the season.

“Yes, I am sitting out this season for personal reasons,” Gamber wrote.

“I love the team, especially all the guys. Let’s not push any false narratives. Thank you.”

Gamber has played for the Blue Eagles since Season 86.

His decision comes months after the deaths of his teammates Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili during a team-building activity in June.

Following the tragedy, the Ateneo men’s team returned to action last Sunday in the Pinoyliga Cup – The Big Dance, where the Blue Eagles defeated Our Lady of Fatima University, 71-60. Earlier, the Blue Eagles also defeated De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, 81-78.
