Pacquiao to spar against Bradley 'clone' who can mimic rough style
Manny Pacquiao began his high altitude training in Baguio City Wednesday as he prepares for the right strategy against the reported rough tactics of Timothy Bradley Jr. inside the ring. The undefeated Bradley (28 wins with 12 knockouts), according to a report on worldboxingnews.net, allegedly uses tactics associated with another sport. Even Nacho Beristain, the famed trainer of Pacquiao’s career rival Juan Manuel Marquez, believes Bradley is a "dirty fighter," saying the 28-year-old undefeated boxer "uses questionable tactics." Marquez is fresh from a 12-round unanimous decision win over Ukraine's Sergey Fedchenko to capture the World Boxing Organization (WBO) interim light welterweight title. Beristain said his ward wants the WBO 140-pound belt that Bradley has. "I know (Marquez), and now he won't rest until he captures the WBO's full championship. Personally, I do not like that (Bradley) opponent. He is very dirty, uses his head and elbows," said Beristain. Pacquiao, an eight division world champion, is well aware of Bradley's raging bull tactics and even asked assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez to imitate the American's fighting style during Wednesday's training session. "That's what (Bradley's) going to do,” said Pacquiao, as he vowed to greet his opponent's head butt attempts with his furious fists. Freddie Roach, Pacquiao's chief trainer, said Bradley will use all means to disrupt the Filipino boxing champ's fight plan. "He's going to do everything (to win)," said Roach, who added that they should also prepare for Bradley's elbows. Roach will bring in Russian Ruslan Provodnikov, who is said to be a Bradley clone, as Pacquiao's lone sparring partner in the Baguio leg of the training. The reigning WBO inter-continental light welterweight titlist is expected to arrive next week. Provodnikov can mimic Bradley's rough style and resembles his compact build. Pacquiao (54-3-2 with 38 KOs) will be facing off with two more sparmates next month when he transfers his training camp at Roach's Wild Card boxing gym in Hollywood. — JVP/KBK/HS, GMA News
