Filipino boxing icon and Sarangani Rep. Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao attended a Mass and rested hours before facing Timothy Bradley Jr. for the world welterweight title in Las Vegas Sunday (in Manila). Many well-wishers went to Pacquiao and relayed to him their wishes for good luck in his bout, radio dzBB reported. But the report also said the fight may not start until after Game 7 of the Eastern Conference finals of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Pacquiao is an avid fan of the NBA. Many Philippine VIPs were seen at the hotel where Pacquiao was staying, including Sen. Ramon Revilla Jr. and several of Pacquiao's fellow members of the House of Representatives. In the Philippines, Pacquiao's mother Dionisia had woken up as early as 4 a.m. to pray for his victory. Filipino boxing fans also lined up early at venues where the bout was to be screened for free. — LBG, GMA News
