Promoter: Marquez IV is a better fight for Pacquiao than Bradley II
Juan Manuel Marquez's promoter Fernando Beltran believes a fourth fight with his boxer is "a logical thing" and "makes more sense" for Philippine ring idol Manny Pacquiao, than a rematch with Timothy Bradley, Beltran told the Los Angeles Times. "I'm speaking for myself, but it's a logical thing, and it makes more sense," said Beltran. "It's not official but I believe it's the fight fans want more. "And I know Manny [Pacquiao] will like the fight for the fans." Pacquiao and Marquez have so far fought a trilogy of fights. In their first meeting back in 2004, the two combatants slugged it out to a draw at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Pacquiao then eked out a split decision in 2006 at the Mandalay Bay, also in Las Vegas, then in 2011, at the MGM Grand again, Pacquiao won a controversial majority decision. The Sarangani congressman has an option for a rematch against Timothy Bradley, who claimed Pacquiao's WBO welterweight title in a split-decision that angered the majority of boxing fans who believe Pacquiao should have gotten the victory. However, Bob Arum, who promotes both fighters, believes few people would want to see a rematch between Bradley and Pacquiao, owing to the fact that many think Pacquiao won decisively. Beltran said, "I will work very hard to make this fight [Marquez versus Pacquiao IV] happen," adding that he would reach out to Pacquiao, "in the next couple of weeks." Pacquiao recently returned to the Philippines in order to tend to his province of Sarangani. Should such a fight push through, it could be in Las Vegas again, or possibly Mexico, with Arum open to the latter possibility. "If the conditions are met, if someone puts up the money, we could take the fight to Mexico. The government knows what that kind of an event would do in the city and they know the economic benefits there would be. [The leaders in Mexico City] should work together to [make it happen]," Arum told BoxingScene.com in a recent interview. - AMD, GMA News
