Lem Satterfield of The Ring reports that Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. was released from the Clark County Detention Center, located in Las Vegas, Nevada, "just after midnight on Friday, August 3," or 3pm in the Philippines. Mayweather was released early from a 90-day jail sentence for good behavior, having served two months of time. He had been booked last June 1 on a domestic violence charge that had been delayed to allow him to participate his last fight, held May 5 in Las Vegas. In that bout, Mayweather claimed Miguel Cotto's WBA super-welterweight championship and improved his record to 43-0. Satterfield reports that rapper 50 Cent was among those who welcomed him out of jail. Mayweather is slated to partner with him as CEOs of The Money Team Promotions, which is positioning itself as a new outfit to compete with more established groups like Golden Boy and Top Rank. In the past, Golden Boy had helped promoted Mayweather's fights, and CEO Richard Schaefer is optimistic that they can continue to work with the new group in order to keep Mayweather under their umbrella. Last June, Manny Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum discussed the possibility of having two bouts pitting Filipino Manny Pacquiao against Mayweather in 2013. The two punchers have had on-and-off talks regarding the possiblity of a bout between the two of them, in order to decide once and for all who the current pound-for-pound best pugilist is. - AMD, GMA News
