Pacquiao fight back to November 10?
After earlier reports had Manny Pacquiao's next fight being moved to December 1, Michael Koncz, Pacquiao's adviser, is now saying the Sarangani congressman will be stepping back into the ring on November 10 after all. Koncz told BoxingScene.com's Rick Reeno that the political problems that made Team Pacquiao first move the bout have been resolved, allowing them to return to the original date. A scheduling issue with HBO also made the switch back necessary. "It's not so much the political end, there are issues with the December 1st date... a television issue and that's the problem, so that's what we're trying to work out," Koncz said. Earlier in the week, Koncz had told ESPN that Pacquiao's fight had been moved to December 1 to allow him to file for re-election in Philippine congress. According to the BoxingScene.com report, the scheduling issue "is likely related to Miguel Cotto's anticipated return on December 1 at New York's Madison Square Garden." BadLeftHook.com reports that HBO will carry that bout, thus creating the conflict. Pacquiao still has not yet named a foe for the said bout. Cotto was said to be one of the four choices, but that is unlikely now given the circumstances. The Filipino fighter will now likely choose between Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez, with Floyd Mayweather as a third option. - AMD/HS, GMA News
