39-year-old Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez has not yet decided whether or not he will continue to fight in 2013, saying that he will first talk with his family about his future plans, which puts a fifth fight against Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao in doubt.

Talking to Ernesto Castellanos of notifight.com, Marquez said, "I want to enjoy my family [in 2013], to be with them, to give them the time that they deserve.

"In professional matters, I do not know yet if I will hang up my gloves or if I plan to do one or two more fights...I do not know, honestly. I will sit down to discuss this, as I've said, with my family, and together we'll see what is next."

Marquez is coming off a stunning sixth round knockout against Pacquiao early in December 2012, a bout that drew multiple awards from boxing pundits, including ESPN's Fight of the Year and Knockout of the Year titles. Marquez is now also third in Ring Magazine's Pound-for-Pound rankings.

The two had met three times prior, but Marquez scored the only knockout of the quadrilogy, a bout Marquez described as "the biggest fight of my life" in the same interview.

"It was against a great fighter, a great character, I'm talking about Pacquiao. I demonstrated who was the best in this fight and our previous meetings where I had been robbed. I won as I should have, with a knockout, and that was the only way to do it," Marquez added.

Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum of Top Rank Promotions, had earlier told TMZ Sports that a fifth fight between the two rivals would be pushing through, and that he was merely waiting for Pacquiao to return from vacation to get the deal off the floor. - AMD, GMA News
