In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, former welterweight champion turned boxing promoter Ricky Hatton said he found Pacquiao's recent defeat to Juan Manuel Marquez "very upsetting" and felt "100 percent" that the Filipino ring icon ought to retire.

Hatton, who was knocked out in the ninth round of his comeback fight last November, had also lost to Pacquiao via KO in 2009. He also told news agencies back in December that he felt the Sarangani congressman ought to retire from the sport.

"I've boxed Manny, and I don't know Manny that personal, but to be knocked out in such a fashion, it brought back a lot of memories," Hatton said. "It's not nice seeing someone knocked out like that. With experience, I'd like to see Manny retire now. There's nothing more he can do, and when you see someone knocked out like that, you don't want to see it again, do you?"

When pressed if he thought Pacquiao ought to "definitely" retire, Hatton said, "100 percent. Eight-weight world champion -- don't really need to [come back]….I made a comeback, I tried to do it. I haven't got it. I'd like to see Manny retire and go down as a legend, which he is."

Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, is working to set up a tune-up bout for Pacquiao in April, before the Filipino and Marquez get back into the ring together later in the year. When asked what he thought of those reports, Hatton reiterated, "Personally, as a boxing fan of Manny Pacquiao and a former opponent, you never like seeing legends or your heroes knocked out in that manner….He'll probably have his own reasons for coming back, and good luck to him if he does." - AMD, GMA News
