RingTV.com's Lem Satterfield reports that WBA junior featherweight Guillermo Rigondeaux has signed on to fight reigning WBO super bantamweight titlist Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire in April. Satterfield wrote that Pat English, the lawyer of Rigondeaux's manager Gary Hyde, confirmed the signing. Bob Arum, CEO of Top Rank, Inc., which promotes both fighters, also said that English had called him to inform him of the deal. "Everything is in the process of happening," Arum told Satterfield. "When it happens, it will happen, and then, we'll announce the signing and the site." Donaire is coming off a stunning 2012, which saw him triumph against Jeffrey Mathebula to win the IBF Super Bantamweight title, Toshiaki Nishiokoa, picking up the The Ring and WBC Diamond Super Bantamweight belts, and most recently, Jorge Arce, back in December. [Related: Top Rank rejects Golden Boy’s Mares-Donaire offer] Arum had previously rejected an offer to have Donaire fight WBC super bantamweight champ Abner Mares, after Top Rank couldn't come to an agreement with Golden Boy Promotions, which handles Mares. The fight is tentatively scheduled for April 13 (April 14, PHL time). - AMD, GMA News
