Residents of areas hit by Super Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) may get a much-needed morale booster from Filipino boxing icon and Sarangani Rep. Emmanuel "Manny" Pacquiao this Sunday.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council is studying whether to telecast the bout for free in Yolanda-affected areas, radio dzBB's Glen Juego reported.

NDRRMC head Eduardo del Rosario also said it would be an even bigger deal for Yolanda victims if Paquiao prevails over Rios.

However, the report quoted Del Rosario as saying there are many factors to consider, including whether power had been restored in some affected areas.

But this early, the local government in Medellin town in Cebu is offering a free live telecast of Pacquiao's bout with Rios on Sunday, state-run Philippine Information Agency reported.

Medellin was one of the areas hit hardest by Yolanda, which barreled through Visayas and Southern Luzon last Nov. 8. More than 3,000 were left dead in its wake.

President Benigno Aquino went around parts of Eastern Visayas from Sunday to Tuesday, visiting residents and assuring them of government aid. He returned to Manila, Tuesday.
