Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach expressed his early assessment of Filipino hero Manny Pacquiao's next foe, Chris Algieri.
The undefeated New York native won the Pacquiao sweepstakes by defeating the heavily favored Ruslan Provodnikov by a close split decision this past June and is set to square-off against the pound-for-pound icon in Macau, on November 22.
"His style, he’s a bit of a runner. Pacquiao doesn’t particularly like fighting guys who run so much," says Roach in an interview with Boxingscene.com. "We’ll figure out a way to beat him. It’s not a problem.”
Roach also iterated that Pacquiao is a completely different fighter from Provodnikov, citing that the Filipino has more speed, throws combinations and a much more seasoned fighter.
When asked what impresses him the most about Algieri, Roach only had a few words to say. "He's got a good jab. That's it." — JST, GMA News
