Will Manny Pacquiao finally hang up his gloves to seek higher office?
In a recent radio interview, the Filipino fight icon expressed his desire to run for a Senate in the 2016 elections, which would effectively prevent him from pursuing more fights.
Pacquiao currently serves as representative of Sarangani province. With his busy schedule as a boxer, Pacquiao has consistently been on the list of most absent congressmen in the Lower House.
Last April, Pacquiao told Gerry Ramos of Spin.ph that he was "80 percent sure" of running for a Senate seat in 2016.
The opposition United Nationalist Alliance said last June that it was eyeing Pacquiao as one of its candidates for Senate.
But before running for higher office, Pacquiao still has mountains to conquer in the sporting world. He is joining the PBA draft later this month as he pursues his dream of becoming playing-coach for the incoming Kia Motors franchise. He also has a showdown set in November against unbeaten American fighter Chris Algieri in Macau. — JST, GMA News
