Former world title challenger Denver Cuello made a successful comeback when he stopped Jaipetch Chaiyonggym in seven rounds this past weekend at Almendras Gym in Davao City.

Cuello's ring return marked the end of his 15-month hiatus following a right shoulder injury in his last fight against Xiong Zhao Zhong.

Despite Cuello's win, his manager and trainer, Aljoe Jaro thinks his ward was far from his best.

"He did OK but I'm not yet satisfied," said Jaro. "It might be due to his 15 months layoff."

Jaro immediately wants Cuello to pick up where he left off for his next fight, as they target the winner of Oswaldo Novoa-Wanheng Menayothin for the WBC world minimumweight title.

The win improved Cuello's record to 34-5-6 with 22 knockouts while Chaiyonggym fell to 3-2 with 2 knockouts. — JST, GMA News
