WBO international flyweight champion Milan Melindo is more motivated than ever for his upcoming IBF title eliminator against Saul Juarez of Mexico on November 15 at Waterfront Hotel in Cebu.
The winner of the said contest will become the No. 1 contender to Javier Mendoza's IBF world light flyweight title.
Melindo, who once challenged for the WBO and WBA world titles at the flyweight division (112-lbs.), will have to cut four more pounds to make the light flyweight limit of 108 lbs.
"Training is good, our focus is to get down to 108," said Melindo's trainer, Edito Villamor. "He's just 10 pounds over and we still have until November 14."
Dropping down a weight class wasn't a tough decision to make for Team Melindo. After all, should Melindo defeat Juarez, a world title shot is imminent down the line- a motivation that the 26-year-old Melindo uses in his daily grind in training camp.
"[Melindo] is very focused and motivated for this fight. He's very serious in training and hungry for another shot at a world title," added Villamor. — JST, GMA News
