Despite numerous absences, Pacquiao says he attends to duties as representative

Sarangani Representative Manny Pacquiao said he continues to serve his constituents despite numerous absences from the House of Representatives.

Out of 69 session days during the First Regular Session of the 16th Congress, Pacquiao was only present for 30 sessions. He was deemed present in eight more sessions, putting his total attendance at 38. Of his absences, he had 30 constituent work-related and only one without notice of absence.

"I wish he'd be more involved here," said House speaker Feliciano Belmonte in a report on "24 Oras."

But Pacquiao, who is currently in the middle of training for his upcoming fight with American boxer Chris Algieri in Macau on November 23, said he hasn't been remiss in his duties.

"May mga project dito na tinututukan ko na ma-implement," Pacquiao said in a report on 24 Oras. "S'yempre minsan sariling pera namin 'yung ginagastos."

Aside from his boxing commitments, Pacquiao also recently made his debut as playing coach of Kia Sorento in the PBA. — Marisse Panaligan/JST, GMA News
