Bob Arum's quest to negotiate and materialize the much-awaited showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is turning out to be positive so far.

Speaking to Los Angeles Daily News, Pacquiao's trainer Freddie Roach was delighted to share that CBS CEO Les Moonves expressed his eagerness to make Pacquiao-Mayweather happen.

"I was there, I was the third party. I just listened a lot. But they spoke about what they could do and how to make the fight happen," said Roach.

"Moonves said he can deliver Mayweather, and, obviously, Bob said he could deliver Pacquiao."

CBS is the parent network of Showtime where Mayweather inked a deal for exclusive rights to air his bouts. Pacquiao is signed to a similar contract, but with rival cable network HBO.

In 2002, HBO and Showtime managed to set their differences aside to collaborate and make Mike Tyson versus Lennox Lewis come to fruition. A similar setup for Pacquiao-Mayweather is most likely should everything fall into place.

With the bosses coming together, Roach feels a renewed optimism that the fight might finally happen soon.

"It was a very good meeting. What they said in that meeting, if they can do it, the fight will happen. Very soon. I think next," told Roach.

"Moonves and Bob walked out to Moonves’ car with their arms around each other. The right people are talking about it. I think that makes it a bigger possibility." - RAF, GMA News
