Freddie Roach thinks the best way to go about the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather matchup is to do it more than once.
“Possibly we’ll do a multi-fight contract, I thought that was the best idea in the world,” the long-time Pacquiao trainer told thaboxingvoice.com.
“I’d love to see these guys fight more than once, if they split the first two, then the third could be a rubber match, and we’d have three big fights," Roach added.
Negotiations are ongoing to make the biggest fight of this generation a reality, but many obstacles still remain. Roach, however, said that making the fight happen is possible, despite the fact that the fighters are currently signed to different networks.
“Mike Tyson fought Lennox Lewis, they used both [Showtime and HBO] and it came out fine. We can do that again," the trainer said.
He said that a Pacquiao-Mayweather fight would be a "great gift to the whole world" and remained positive that both parties can work on an agreement to seal the deal.
"This is the only way we are going to get this fight done. We get both sides talking," he added. "This is the biggest fight in the world, let's make it happen." — Marisse Panaligan/JST, GMA News
