A member of Floyd Mayweather's inner circle has confirmed positive developments in negotiations for the much-awaited showdown between the unbeaten American champion and Filipino ring icon Manny Pacquiao.

Speaking to theguardian.com at press conference held in New York this Wednesday (Thursday PHL time), Sam Watson, a close associate of Floyd Mayweather's trusted adviser Al Haymon, said that the people working behind the scenes are now putting the puzzle pieces together to deliver the fight on May 2.

“They’re putting it together now. They’re going to do a Showtime-HBO [joint pay-per-view] like they did last time with Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson," said Watson.

"They’re working on the monies now and everything they’ve got to work on to make it happen. I can’t wait. It’s going to be huge."

To remove any doubts about his words, Watson stressed his close relationship to Haymon, who does the negotiations on Mayweather's behalf.

“He’s my best friend (Al Haymon), I work for him, I’m with him every day,” says Watson. “I believe it’s going to happen. I believe that everybody involved wants it to happen. I know Floyd wants it.”

Earlier, Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum said that the Filipino has agreed to the terms of the fight, leaving the decision up to Mayweather. —JST, GMA News
