Even Pacquiao having difficulty finding tickets for Mayweather fight

In the past, Manny Pacquiao made a habit of raining complimentary tickets for family, friends, and acquaintances whenever he had a fight.

But that may change for his May 2 fight against Floyd Mayweather at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

"Hindi tayo ang may control sa ticket eh. Yung Floyd Mayweather promotion," Pacquiao told Mav Gonzales on "24 Oras" on Wednesday.

That meant Pacquiao himself did not have access anymore to free tickets that he did in the past.

"Yung complimentary tickets na dati meron, ngayon wala na," said Pacquiao.

Even the Filipino ring icon is now wondering how he'll be able to give tickets to friends.

"Naghahanap nga ako ng ticket din," he said.

Million-peso seats

A report on CNN Money said that floor seats for the mega-fight is already reselling online for $22,441, or almost P1 million.

Quoting data from TiqIQ, a leading resale ticket market aggregator in the United States, fighthype.com reported that the average ticket price for the fight is already $10,506.41, while the cheapest ticket is priced at $4,175 for Section 201 row P.

According to data collected by fighthype.com, these dwarf the ticket prices for the next five most expensive boxing matches in the United States since 2010.

Online ticket brokers have begun listing for the seats even though tickets to the fight are not available yet. Ticket prices are expected to be between $1,000 to $4,000, according to published reports.

Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum told ESPN Radio that MGM Grand, which will host the fight on May 2, will only make tickets to floor seats available to high-rollers — gamblers who are willing to lose thousands of dollars on single bets. According to Arum, only those that have at least a $250,000 credit line with the casino will be able to sit ringside. —JST, GMA News
