Retired six-division world champion Oscar De La Hoya feels that the much-awaited showdown between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather is taking place because the brash American was left with no choice but fight.
“I do feel that Mayweather was pressured into this fight,” De La Hoya said to USA Today.
The Golden Boy Promotions founder was skeptic throughout the negotiations, citing Mayweather's reluctance to fight Pacquiao over the years.
Until Pacquiao-Mayweather got made, De La Hoya stood his ground in having Mexican fan favorite Saul Alvarez fight on May 2. He credits the big names for coming together in making the mega fight happen together with his company.
“I believe that Mayweather was boxed in from the pressure coming from (CBS CEO) Les Moonves, the pressure coming from Bob Arum, the pressure coming from Pacquiao and the pressure coming from Golden Boy." - RAF, GMA News
