Mayweather knocks out sparring partner: Why that may be good news for Pacquiao

Floyd Mayweather is in already in fighting form one week into his training camp, with the unbeaten American champion reportedly knocking out a sparmate during training.

"He dropped one of the guys with a body shot," photographer Chris Robinson told CBSSports.com.

Mayweather is slated for the richest fight in history against Manny Pacquiao in May 2 in Las Vegas. The unbeaten American champion said his training has been going "tremendously" in a video interview on fighthype.com.

"Training camp has gone tremendously thus far, all I can do is just wait. This is not just a big fight, this is the biggest fight in boxing history," he said.

"It is always being at your best, pushing yourself to the limit and just being sharp and smart."

But according to an analyst, Mayweather's aggression in the ring during training could end up helping Pacquiao. Mayweather is known for his defensive ability, while Pacquiao is known for his offensive attack.

"An aggressive mindset may lead to a more 'tit-for-tat' style of contest, where he'll get more on the receiving end," boxing columnist Marc Livitz told CBSSports.com. —JST, GMA News
