Pacquiao suffers cramps anew during jogging session
Manny Pacquiao was up early to continue his training for his May 2 fight against Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas.
But cramps put a damper on his roadwork, forcing him to cut short his run through Griffith Park in Los Angeles on Monday (Tuesday PHL time).
Pacquiao downplayed the problem when he spoke to Connie Sison of "24 Oras"
"Nag-ano lang yung muscle dahil nabigla sa paakyat," said Pacquiao, who received ice treatment after failing to walk off the cramp. "Pinuwersa kaagad eh."
Pacquiao has suffered the occasional cramps while jogging at Griffith Park, which features sloping hills, in past trainings.
Leg cramps have also been an issue in the past for Pacquiao, so much so that American journalist Gary Andrew Poole wrote about it in a feature on Grantland in 2012. While preparing for his first fight against Timothy Bradley, Team Pacquiao planned "to lay off the endurance work in this camp, do more sprints, more boxing-specific leg exercises, and space out intense workouts between more rest days."
There have been no reports of leg cramps being an issue for Pacquiao during fights since. —JST, GMA News
