UFC boss Dana White a Pacquiao fan, but admits Manny is underdog against Mayweather

Ultimate Fighting Championship president Dana White is on a mission for tickets to the long awaited mega-fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather on May 2.

A powerful figure in the world of mixed martial arts, White's boxing fandom is no secret, previously urging Mayweather to fight Pacquiao.

"Damn, I wish this happened five years ago. I wanted to see the fight five years ago but that being said, I just made a call today to try and get a bunch of tickets," White told ESPN.

"It's the fight to go to. It's the fight that everyone has been waiting for. I just wish we could've seen those two fight in their primes."

A boxing instructor before becoming the UFC boss, White possesses a good amount of wisdom regarding the sport. White has repeatedly stated in the past that he's a Pacquiao fan but understands why Mayweather is the favorite to win the bout.

"Listen, I'm a huge Manny Pacquiao fan. I still wear Pacquiao shoes to the gym when I work out in the morning. But Floyd Mayweather has consistently stayed in great shape and taken care of himself," says White.

"I think Floyd is definitely the favorite in this fight. It's not an easy fight I think Floyd has the best defense in boxing, he's very fast."

Though Pacquiao is an underdog, White still sees the Filipino ring icon winning if he comes in with the proper game plan.

"Manny is one of the most dangerous guys in the history of boxing. He's got great, great feet, a lot of power in both hands and he's gonna keep coming," White said.

"I think if it's a slow-paced fight it will go Floyd's way but if it's fast-paced and there's a lot of exchanges I think Manny will get it done."

And while mixed martial arts is seen by many as a fierce competitor to boxing, White is hoping that the Pacquiao-Mayweather fight does better than expected and shatters pay-per-view records.

"I hope they do seven million buys that night. I always like to see what the ceiling is. I'm excited for that fight. I want to see it and I hope it crushes it." —JST, GMA News
