Pinoy boxer Dennis Tubieron loses by first round KO in London

Palawan native Dennis Tubieron suffered his second consecutive defeat in foreign soil after getting hammered in the first round by Mitchell Smith, Saturday, at the Wembley Arena in London.

Smith was aggressive from the get go, coming forward and throwing punches to the head and body of the Filipino.

Tubieron, on the other hand, was passive, moving and throwing occasional left straights in what he clearly thought was a mere feeling out round.

A Smith right straight to Tubieron's mid-section in the final 30 seconds sent him cramping down the canvass in pain. Unable to beat the ten-count, referee Steve Gray waved the fight at the 2:42 mark of round one.

Tubieron, a former WBC international bantamweight champion, has gone 1-2-1 in his last four fights, dropping his record to 19-5-2 with 8 knockouts while Smith improved to 13-0 with 7 knockouts. - RAF, GMA News
