Mayweather would outbox, beat Golovkin - Roach
World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin may be the most dangerous fighter in boxing today, but Floyd Mayweather is very well capable of outboxing the Kazakh warrior should they meet inside the ring according to Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach.
"Floyd outboxes him," Roach told boxingscene.com. "[Mayweather] has never been knocked out as a professional fighter, so what makes this guy any different. "
There is a clamor for both fighters to stake their unbeaten records and settle the score on who is the better prizefighter by going at it inside the ring. Mayweather, however, announced his retirement after defeating Andre Berto this past September.
While the prospective matchup seems unlikely to happen given the circumstances, Roach says he's picking Mayweather (49-0, 26KOs) to beat Golovkin (34-0, 31KOs) should the fight take place.
"He's (Golovkin) a good puncher, but I'm sure Floyd has faced a lot of good punchers in his lifetime, from the amateurs to pros," says Roach.
"Has [Mayweather] been down once? But not too many guys hurt [Mayweather], so I would pick Floyd to win that fight." - JM Siasat/RAF, GMA News
