Jerwin Ancajas to defend title against fellow Pinoy Jonas Sultan in Las Vegas
Reigning IBF world super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas is tasked to defend his title against fellow filipino and number one contender Jonas Sultan on April 14 in Las Vegas.
Ancajas, 26, is coming off an impressive US debut this past February and is seen as the favorite over his counterpart.
Sultan, meanwhile, has defeated former world champ Johnriel Casimero in his last outing and is on a five-fight win streak.
"This will be a good fight because Sultan is pretty good," Ancajas' trainer Joven Jimenez told GMA News Online. "I think Ancajas and Sultan are even."
The upcoming bout will mark the first world title showdown between two Filipino prizefighters since 1925 when Pancho Villa successfully defended his world flyweight title against Clever Sencio. — BAP, GMA News
