Boxing icon and incumbent Senator Manny Pacquiao is now in 100 percent condition for his July 15 fight against Lucas Matthysse, his coach Buboy Fernandez said on Saturday.

Pacquiao started his training on Saturday by jogging at the Acharon Sports Complex in General Santos City past 7 a.m., according to a report by Mav Gonzales on Balitanghali.

The boxing champ ran 12 laps around the track oval accompanied by Team Pacquiao members and his pet dog Pacman.

This was then followed by shadow boxing and core exercises.

During breaks, members of Team Pacquiao traded jokes and laughed a lot, making the atmosphere light.

"Siya mismo nagsasabi na happy siya sa training camp ngayon. Lalong lalo na sa buong team dahil parehong Pilipino. Si Coach Justin [Fortune] naman, 'yung cooperation niya bilang conditioning coach. Kumbaga nanumbalik 'yung sigla sa buong team dahil bawat isa sa amin nagtutulungan eh," Fernandez said.

He added that the training days have been lessened to give Pacquiao an added day off.

"Nag-ano lang tayo konti ng day off. Nagdagdag tayo isa. Kasi tinitingnan namin, 'yung isang araw niya na day off niya medyo kulang pa ata ng konti kasi 'pag alam mo naman ang senador natin, 'pag nag-training, talagang sagaran. So nagdagdag kami ng isa," Fernandez said.

"So maobserbahan naman natin kasi pag dinay-off mo siya tapos sparring kinabukasan, makita mo 'yung galaw niya," he added.

On Saturday afternoon, Pacquiao will have sparring and gym training.

Monday will be the senator's last training day in the country before he flies to Kuala Lumpur.

The Pacquiao-Matthysse fight is scheduled on July 15 at the Axiata Arena in Malaysia for the WBA welterweight title.

It will be simulcast free on GMA-7. The card will air on GMA Network from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a replay at 10 p.m.

Super Radyo dzBB will also cover the fight. —KG, GMA News
