Eumir Marcial scores bronze for PHL in Asian Games boxing

Eumir Marcial added to the Philippines medal haul in the 2018 Asian Games after winning a bronze in the men's middleweight boxing competition on Friday.

The former world youth boxing champion settled for the bronze after dropping a close 3-2 decision against Uzbekistan’s Jasurbek Latipov in the final.

Marcial joined Carlo Paalam among the bronze medal winners for the Philippine boxing contingent. Paalam earlier a lost heartbreaker against India's Amit in the light flyweight semifinals.

Rogen Ladon remains the only remaining gold medal hope for Team Pilipinas after dominating Thailand’s Yuttapong Tongdee, 5-0, in the men’s flyweight semifinal.

The Philippines now has four gold medals, one silver, and 15 bronzes in the competition. —JST, GMA News
