Eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao is promoting the use of sign language in celebration of the International Day of Sign Language on Sept. 23.

The 41-year-old Filipino boxing icon took to social media as he posted a video of himself doing some basics of sign language.

“In celebration of the International Day of Sign Language, I join the Global Leaders Challenge that seeks to promote the use of sign languages,” Pacquiao wrote.

“This pandemic, let us learn the importance of linguistic identity and cultural diversity of all deaf people and other sign language users. How about starting with the basic sign language?”

Pacquiao last saw action inside the ring in July 2019 against Keith Thurman where he won the WBA “super” welterweight title via split decision. – JM Siasat/RC, GMA News
