Johnriel Casimero raring to introduce himself to worldwide audience against Duke Micah

Reigning WBO world bantamweight champion Johnriel Casimero is raring to showcase the world what he is made of when he defends his belt for the first time against unbeaten contender Duke Micah on Sept. 27 (Philippine time) at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, USA.

The fight is set to take place on the undercard of Showtime Boxing doubleheader which will air on pay-per-view for $74.95. For Casimero (29-4, 20KOs), this weekend would be the biggest stage he has ever been in yet thus he plans to make the most out of it.

“This is my first time to show the world [who I am]. This is it, I will do my best in this fight. I will give a good fight because I am very ready for this fight,” said Casimero.

The upcoming contest against Micah (24-0, 19KOs) will mark Casimero’s first fight since he won the title over Zolani Tete in November 2019. He was originally slated to face Japanese superstar Naoya Inoue but the COVID-19 pandemic ultimately led the fight to fall apart.

And while Casimero versus Micah may not be the fight that the fans wanted to see, the unbeaten contender vows an epic showdown with the Filipino.

“This fight is going to be like Joe Frazier and Muhammad Ali. I’m going to use my mind because I know he’s a good boxer and he can punch,” Micah stated.

“That’s what the fans want to see, the best fighting the best. I don’t care about what he’s bringing. I’m coming there to fight to show the world I’m number one.” – JM Siasat/RC, GMA News
