Hidilyn Diaz congratulates Eumir Marcial after bronze medal finish in Tokyo

Hidilyn Diaz has been the biggest cheerleader of her fellow Filipino Olympians still competing in Tokyo.

On Thursday, the star weightlifter immediately offered her congratulations to Eumir Marcial, who settled for the bronze medal in the men's middleweight semifinals.

In a Facebook video, Diaz expressed her pride for the boxer, her fellow soldier-athlete and Zamboangueño.

"Doy congratulations, happy kami," she said. "Proud iyong Zamboangueño, Philippine Air Force, Pilipino. Laban Pilipinas."

Marcial's Olympic journey concluded after a split decision loss against Oleksandr Khyzhniak of Ukraine. 

His bronze medal is the third medal for the Philippines in Tokyo, after Diaz's gold in weightlifting and Nesthy Petecio's silver in boxing.

Before Marcial and Diaz flew to Tokyo, they said they would dedicate their fight to the victims of C-130 aircraft crash in Sulu.
