IN PHOTOS | John Riel Casimero defeats Guillermo Rigondeaux to retain WBO bantamweight title

WBO world bantamweight champion John Riel Casimero defeated challenger Guillermo Rigondeaux via split decision to retain his title on Saturday (Sunday in Manila) at the Dignity Health Sports Park in California.

Rigondeaux proved to be a difficult opponent to catch as he danced away from Casimero for much of the fight, but was not really able to mount much offense himself.

In the end, two judges saw it 116-112 and 117-111 for the flashy Filipino while one judge had it 115-113 for the two-time Olympic gold medalist out of Cuba.
