House adopts reso commending Tokyo 2020 boxing medalists

The House of Representatives on Wednesday adopted resolutions commending three Filipino boxers won medals at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

During the plenary session, the following resolutions congratulating Nesthy Petecio, Carlo Paalam, and Eumir Marcial have been adopted:

• House Resolution 2093 - Congratulating, commending, and conferring the Congressional Medal of Distinction to Nesthy Alcayde Petecio for winning the Philippines’ first-ever Silver Medal in Women’s Boxing at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics;
• House Resolution 2122 - Congratulating and conferring the Congressional Medal of Distinction to Carlo Paalam for bringing pride and honor to the country by winning the Silver Medal in the Men’s Flyweight Boxing Event at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics; and
• House Resolution 2116 - Congratulating, commending, and conferring the Congressional Medal of Distinction to Eumir Marcial for capturing the Bronze Medal in the Men’s Boxing Middleweight Division at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics.

The three, together with gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz, personally received awards and cash incentives after their successful stint in Japan at the Palace on Monday.

Included among these were P2 million each for Petecio and Paalam and P1 million for Marcial from Deputy Speaker Michael Romero. — BM, GMA News
