Top Rank and Queensberry win Fury vs. Whyte purse bid for $40 million

Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotions and Frank Warren of Queensberry Promotions won the Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte purse bid for a record of $40,000,000.

The fight is set to take place on April 23 in the United Kingdom with Wembley Stadium targeted as the venue.

“We’re delighted to have won the purse bid and this is a massive fight over here [in the U.K.] This is a fight people over here really want to see. It’s been three years since Tyson fought over here and it’s also an opportunity to keep Tyson active,” Warren told Yahoo Sports.

“With COVID and the arbitration [with Deontay Wilder], he’s only fought once in a couple of years. Now, we can get him back in the ring on a more regular basis, and so it’s great from that standpoint, as well.”

Fury (31-0-1, 22KOs), the current WBC world heavyweight champion, is coming off back-to-back stoppage victories against the hard-hitting Deontay Wilder. Whyte (28-2, 19KOs), meanwhile, holds the WBC interim heavyweight title and is on a four-fight winning streak.
