Casimero vs. Butler officially announced for April 22

The world championship showdown between WBO world bantamweight titleholder John Riel Casimero and Paul Butler has been officially rescheduled by Probellum for April 22 at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool, United Kingdom.

Casimero and Butler were originally slated to lock horns inside the ring last December in Dubai but the fight was called off when the Filipino had to be brought to a hospital before the official weigh-in because of viral gastritis.

“Liverpool is one of the most passionate boxing cities in the world and we are delighted to be holding our first show at the M&S Bank Arena in April,” said Probellum President Richard Schaefer.

“This is an absolutely fantastic card featuring a combination of world-class fighters, extremely talented aspiring stars and packed with local talent whose fans will no doubt create a truly unique atmosphere.”

The 32-year-old Casimero (31-4, 21KOs) last saw action in August against ex-super bantamweight world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux where he won by way of split decision. Butler, meanwhile, is 33-2 with 15 knockouts as a pro and is on a seven-fight winning streak.
